Nadira Husain

La Villa du Parc is proud to have co-published with Bierke the first monograph devoted to the artist Nadira Husain, whose work was featured in a solo show at La Villa in 2018 called Pourquoi je suis tout bleu.

This publication features 100 artworks produced by the artist over the last 6 years. Husain works in painting, drawing, and objects and techniques in sculpture or various print processes, treating these materials and working methods with the same importance. In doing so, Husain shakes up the conventional approaches and procedures in her art practice while calling into question ways of thinking that are culturally determined or specific to sex and gender in terms of content.

The book contains numerous views of the exhibition which show the care and interest taken in the arrangement of the exhibition spaces, the wall installations, and the objects placed on display. The publication features texts by Sonia Recasens, Leeza Ahmady, and Haytham El-Wardany in their respective mother tongues – Farsi, Arabic, and French – along with an English translation.
