From 20 to 29 May, La Villa du Parc is showcasing artworks done by students from the schools of Annemasse and its nearby communities, following in the wake of the workshops hosted by the featured artists who have taken part in the contemporary art center’s exhibitions and events program. The young students drew their inspiration from the works they discovered in two shows at the center, Empire et galaxie and Quand je n’aurai plus de feuille j’écrirai dans le blanc de l’œil (When I No Longer Have a Sheet of Paper, I Shall Write Upon the White of the Eye), questioning in their own way the definition of territory, urbanism and architecture, and what it means to belong in a culture.
This year some twenty classes participated in the program. They represent every grade – from nursery school to college – and all of the département’s sectors, including Ambilly, Annemasse, Cranves-Sales, Evian, Gaillard, Saint-Jeoire , La Roche sur Foron, Thonon, and Vétraz. A selection of students from the preparatory class of the Ecole des Beaux Arts du Genevois has created the show’s visual communications, designed its layout and display, and mounted the works on view.
Finally, the presentation takes two forms, physical in the various galleries and exhibition spaces of La Villa du Parc; and online in an interactive display via the Prezi website.
